West Mids Group June 2026 meeting

12 made it to the June meeting (pic001).

Dick Johnson brought along his layout ‘Tren Bach’ and a selection of stock.  This included Dick’s Fourdees ‘Beddgelert’ and train (pic002).  There was also a visit from Paddington Bear (pic003).

Trevor Street brought along Norton Heath.  A Sentinel ‘Doble’ loco ran on it (pic004) but I missed whose this was (sorry).

Neil Davies brought along his test track and ran a number of items.  First was his ‘Percy bash’ steam railcar.  These were joined by a selection of Fourdees locos and a Paul Windle railcar based on the West Clare Drewry.  Also seen were some of Charlie Forbes’ stock.  The carriages were based on Campbelltown & Macrihanish coaches but he also has a Tramfabriek chassis destined for a Grandt Line box-cab loco.  Neil also ran his collection of brake vans (pic005 & 006).

Joseph Jacks delivered a number of the Ruston LA prints but also brought along a modern ‘phone box he had printed (pic008).

Steve Mann brought along his new layout ‘Millcot Green’ (pic009), also known as the Friday Night Special.  Steve’s idea is for a layout than can be offered as a last minute stand in at a show should someone drop out, and it already has some invitations.  It ran a variety of Steve’s stock along with some ‘guests’, but I managed to snap this display of his Percy bashes (pic010).  Tomix is on the left, Bachmann on the right.

Paul Atkin (pic011, centre) spent much of the meeting kit bashing a Ratio grounded van body onto an 009 Society RNAD chassis.  Unfortunately I managed to miss photographing the result of his efforts.
